<div class="elementToProof">A key responsibility as office administrator will be to contribute towards ensuring the administrative side of Glasgow Wood runs efficiently. This includes professionally processing customer queries / orders, either by phone call, email or in person. On top of this, you will play a key role liaising with our retail staff, thus ensuing the space is tidy, and appropriately laid out for customers.</div>

<div class="elementToProof">Glasgow Wood is a social enterprise and charity, established in 2006. We aim to contribute towards achieving a sustainable and environmentally friendly planet, by reducing the amount of wood going to landfill through our regular waste wood collection service we carry out, both for businesses and members of the public. This is intended to discourage waste going to landfill.</div>

<div class="elementToProof">The wood waste that we collect from all over Glasgow and beyond, is gathered and sorted on our premises. We then either sell the wood collected from our retail space, or reuse the wood to contribute towards making quality furniture and other products. This can be for customers, businesses or social sector organisations.</div>

<div class="elementToProof">A key pillar of Glasgow Wood is the volunteering opportunities provided, to help unemployment and social exclusion. Under supervision of staff, our volunteers participate in workshop activities, help with delivery/ collection services, and stock our retail area.</div>

<li>To provide high quality front of house service to customers in person and over the phone.</li>
<li>Processing enquiries, quotes &amp; payments.</li>
<li>To maintain accurate filing systems &amp; keep up to date record of sales and order information.</li>
<li>To contribute to the day-to-day retail management, ensuring the office and retail environment is attractive to both customers and staff.</li>
<li>Be willing to support volunteers and trainees.</li>
<li>To liaise with retail staff to ensure the retail space is continually maintained.</li>

<p>To lead and supervise the effective running of the workshop, overseeing production and supporting volunteering and training activities of Glasgow Wood. The Workshop Team Leader shall have a key role in the efficient running and sustainability of the organisation.</p>

<p>Glasgow Wood is a social enterprise and charity established in 2006. We are committed to achieving a sustainable population and planet. We aim to reduce the amount of wood going to landfill by finding creative, and socially inclusive ways to reuse this valuable natural resource. We create this image to our customers, and try to encourage them to limit the amount of wood going to landfill.</p>
<p>The wood waste that we collect from all over Glasgow and further afield is gathered, and sorted at our South Street workshop. This helps achieve our enviornmental goals. We then reuse the wood waste to make quality furniture and design bespoke pieces for home, businesses and social sector organisations, anything from tables in bars to eco-gardens in schools.</p>
<p>Through these activities, and at the heart of what we do, we provide volunteer and training opportunities to local people, as a practical way of tackling unemployment and social exclusion. Our volunteers either participate in our workshop, help our drivers for delivery/ collection services, and offer support in our retail area, to ensure this is tidy and stock is in the correct piles.</p>

<p><strong>Key Responsibilities </strong></p>

<li>Day to day supervision of the Glasgow Wood workshop operations ensuring appropriate and safe use of available resources.</li>
<li>Liaise with the operations Team Leader and the Financial and Commercial Team to agree the weekly production schedule.</li>
<li>Allocation of tasks to staff members and volunteers to meet the agreed production schedule.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain high standards and a positive ethos throughout the operation and work with other staff to ensure cohesive and cooperative working practices.</li>
<li>Working in unison with the management and staff to implement and maintain an appropriate standard of health, safety and environmental compliance.</li>
<li>Be responsible for workshop materials and inventory.</li>
<li>Oversee the implementation of machinery and equipment maintenance.</li>
<li>Supervise and develop staf ni collaboration with the other members of the management team.</li>
<li>Contribute at all times to supporting the progress of volunteers and trainees as they seek to learn and develop.</li>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Glasgow Wood is looking to recruit a voluntary chairperson because the existing chair is stepping down after 8 years on the board.</h3>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Chair will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for the organisation’s <a href="https://glasgowwood.org.uk/our-story/">mission and vision</a>, providing inclusive leadership and ensure that each Board member fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the organisation. The Chair will also support, and, where appropriate, challenge the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and ensure the Board functions as a team and works closely with the organisation to achieve agreed objectives.</p>
<p>Glasgow Wood’s board is strong but compact – a deliberate choice to keep it small and nimble during the pandemic – but there’s a need now to expand membership in support of the organisations exciting growth ambitions.  As chair you’ll have the opportunity to grow the board and recruit new members with the skills required to deliver the newly updated five-year strategy.</p>
<p><strong>We would welcome</strong> interest from individuals who have a strong business or social enterprise background and who are able to provide consistent and committed support to board members, the organisation and CEO. Experience in chairing meetings and strategic thinking skills are important requirements. The board meet every six weeks with the chairperson also meeting periodically with the CEO to offer guidance and support.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Glasgow Wood Recycling is currently seeking a new volunteer committee member for our Board of Directors. <span id="more-1079"></span>As a social enterprise we are looking for someone with some business, management, finance or marketing experience to join our diverse committee team.</p>
<p>GWR seeks to divert a large amount of wood waste from being destroyed or going to landfill whilst improving and supporting the community through our extensive volunteer programme and in the process creating beautiful and unique new products. For anyone applying to this position you will have a real impact in shaping the future of our organisation, and improving the social impact that we can have.</p>
<p>We are seeking a new committee member to help us define and determine our strategic direction and to input their creative and functional expertise. This input will help us tackle a challenging business environment but also support the varied social and environmental aims of the organisation. The time commitment of this post is not huge, with only around 6 meetings a year, however your input will have real impact on where we take the organisation as we continue to expand.</p>

<h2>Requirements &amp; Responsibilities</h2>
<ul>
<li> Some form of experience in management, marketing or finance</li>
<li> Be able to attend board meetings once every 6-8 weeks</li>
<li> Communicate with other board members about the core issues surrounding GWR</li>
<li> Have an active interest in third-sector organisations and helping individuals meet their needs in terms of finding opportunities for volunteering, training or employment.</li>
</ul>
<p>Board positions are unpaid, but related expenses will be reimbursed.</p>
