Then, one of our woodworkers will guide you through the process of building your very own bench. From start to finish, they’ll demonstrate every step which goes into transforming a pile of reclaimed Scottish spruce and reclaimed scaffold boards into a finished product. There’ll be a break for lunch half way and at the end you’ll be able to take the bench away with you.

The session begins at 10:00am and will finish at approximately 3:00-4:00pm.

In order to reserve your place on this session, in the order notes you’ll need to tell us:

1. Customisation – the text you’d like on your bench
2. Desired size – height of text in mm
3. Placement – only within the back panel, e.g. top left or right
4. Font – serif or sans serif

From start to finish, they’ll demonstrate every step which goes into transforming a pile of reclaimed wood and sheet materials into finished products. At the end, you’ll take your wildlife building pieces away with you.

You’ll then finish your items with a clear finish of Loxkin, which will help to prolong the life of your pieces. Made of hemp oil it’s completely natural, so perfect for looking after plants and wildlife.

This session is designed for 1 parent and 1 child to attend. It’s a great introduction to learn more about reusing wood and getting hands on in building some of our simplest products.

The session begins at 12:00pm and will finish at approximately 2:00-3:00pm.

The session will begin with some general housekeeping, introductions to the other participating elders and younglings, and a chance to familiarise yourself with the workshop before the spooky crafting begins.

Then, one of our experienced woodworkers will guide you through every step of the build process. Once you’ve selected your ghoulish faces, they’ll show you how to use the tools to construct your pair of rustic lanterns, perfect for lighting up doorsteps, pathways, and haunted corners of the garden.

Then at the end, there’ll be finish available to paint your lanterns in your chosen colour/s. At this point, your creations must remain in our care awhile longer as they dry. You’ll then be summoned to collect it before the big day, otherwise they’ll be left to the spirits.

This session is suitable for beginners and makes a fantastic introduction to woodworking, creative reuse, and seasonal crafting. Whether you’re decorating for trick-or-treaters or simply adding a touch of autumn magic to your home, you’ll leave with two unique handmade lanterns to enjoy year after year.

From there, we’ll take you through the complete build process: cutting, assembling and finishing your bookcase. There’ll also be the opportunity to choose how many and where your shelves will be fitted too. Midway through the session we’ll take a lunch break, then reconvene to complete and finish your Suilven.

You’ll begin with a short tour of our South Street workshop, witnessing firsthand how reclaimed timber moves from sorting and “stickering” to preparation ready for reuse. From there, we’ll walk you through every stage of the build: cutting the boards to size, assembling the tabletop, attaching your chosen style of legs (straight or tapered), sanding smooth, and applying a clear finish that brings out the unique character of the wood.

After the Thursday evening session, we’ll reconvene on Saturday to complete the final touches — smoothing edges, fine-tuning joinery, and finishing your table with a clear stain, our most popular finish option which highlights all the character within the reclaimed wood whilst helping to prolong the life of the product. We’ll then arrange with you a later date to collect as the bookcase will need curing/drying time.

The Thursday session begins at 5:00pm and will finish at approximately 8:00pm.
The Saturday session begins at 10:00am and will finish at approximately 3:00pm.
