Glasgow Community Sauna team build an affordable and accessible space using reclaimed wood
Nestled in the back of the Bowling Green in Glasgow's Southside, Glasgow Community Sauna is a queer-led community project making the benefits of sauna and cold plunge affordable and accessible to everyone. Using various types of reclaimed materials including our reclaimed timber, they've created a space which matches their ethos.

Throughout her 10 years at Glasgow Wood, Danielle has seen a huge amount of transformation. The business and third sector landscape has changed rapidly over recent years, meaning that organisations next to think creatively about how they can sustain themselves. Now over 6 months into her role as Managing Director, she explains why Crowdfunding could be a really important form of income for unusual organisations like Glasgow Wood.

Raised beds and barrel trains installed to bring life to newly adopted Charing Cross station in Glasgow
Last year, COWI commissioned Glasgow Wood to build some brightly coloured raised beds and barrel trains for Charing Cross, as part of ScotRail’s Adopt-a-Station initiative. With the help of Alzheimer Scotland and St. Patrick’s Primary School (COWI’s nominated charity and school partners for the Glasgow office), they’ve brought colour and character to the station platform and stairwells.

Aberfeldy Community Bike Workshop upcycles Hunterian drawers for workbenches
Draft & Flow Community Bike Workshop founder, Nick, visited Glasgow Wood in April 2023 to pick up a rather large order of ex-Hunterian Museum archive drawers which we collected via our Waste Wood Collections Service. 8 months later, he's transformed them into a beautiful set of workshop storage units for organising tools and bike parts.
