Schools Teepee Competition winner announced: over 500 entries but only 1 favourite!
In September we put out a call to local schools to come up with the best name, decoration and story to win a teepee for their playground. Having painstakingly combed through over 500 entries from 11 schools, we've narrowed it down to our favourites. Plus one winner of course!

Gro Gardens wellbeing and greenspace official opening at QEUH
Having started this project in mid-2022, we were very excited to finally see the opening of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Gro Garden! Designed by erz. studio, the hybrid wellbeing, art and greenspace provides the perfect place for staff visitors to relax and enjoy the outdoors. RE-CASK: 12 months, 80 barrels and approximately 4 tonnes of CO2!
With our whisky barrel project, RE-CASK, we’ve been able to work our way through approximately 80 oak barrels since the beginning, preventing around 4 tonnes of CO2 from entering our atmosphere.

RE-CASK: the official launch
It's estimated that an incredible 250,000 disused whisky casks are in circulation each year. No longer useful in the whisky making process, the opportunity to think differently about how to maximise the value of these end of life oak whisky barrels was something we couldn’t pass on.

Designs on Growth Update
Last year Glasgow Wood Recycling’s efforts to tackle social exclusion and promote sustainability were boosted by the announcement of funding from the Scottish Government and European Union for 'Designs on Growth' - our in-house design project. We are now 9 months into our design project and some great progress has been made. We've launched 13 new products!
